Kabu Karanja
Kabu is an Associate at McKay’s Corporate and M&A, Commercial Transactions and Corporate Services Practices. She has over four years of experience advising clients in mergers and acquisitions, general corporate, commercial law, legal and regulatory, company secretarial services and data protection privacy.
Kabu is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.

Merger and Acquisitions: part of the team that advised a Kenya-registered payment services provider (PSP) in relation to an investment of about USD 6.5 Million by a Ghana-based payment solutions provider;

Mergers and Acquisitions: advised a Kenya-registered renewable solutions provider in relation to the proposed purchase of shares by a Norwegian renewable energy consortium;

Corporate: advised an education services provider in relation to an intended repurchase of shares held by the school’s staff savings and credit cooperative society in the company;

Commercial transactions: part of the team that advised a Kenyan software solutions provider in respect of proposed collaboration between the company and a leading commercial bank in Ethiopia;

Legal Regulatory Compliance: part of the team that conducted a legal, regulatory and governance audit of the operations of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) to ensure its compliance with the key applicable laws and regulations;

Data protection and privacy: provided legal advice to various corporate clients, including financial institutions, hospitals, consulting firms, schools and hospitality firms, on compliance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act, No. 24 of 2019 and the Regulations made thereunder and registration with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC)
